Brother Juniper's

Breakfast...it is quite possibly my favorite meal of the day.  I don't care if it's 8 o'clock at night, it is simply my favorite.
Memphis has a number of great breakfast options, and this is one of my favorites...Brother Juniper's.
According to their website, "The original Brother Juniper was a humble cook for St. Francis of Assisi. Even though the Brothers were poor, Brother Juniper always made delicious and nutritious meals for the Brothers. In the tradition of creative hand-crafted food, prepared from fresh ingredients, Brother Juniper's offers the best breakfast in Memphis."

Let me just say, they aren't kidding on the "hand-crafted food, prepared from fresh ingredients".  This place is the real deal.
*A little advice: Brother Juniper's is usually an hour wait when you go after 9am.  We call them when we leave the house, and they put us on the waiting list (always ask how long the wait is).

Now, if you don't call, you'll probably have a decent wait...but who cares! They have a coffee bar for you to sit and wait! Personally, we always order the "Juniper Latte".  If you love coffee, this thing is amazing.  Tory says this tasty beverage is a "warm delight for the senses".  This latte is made with: Espresso, caramel, steamed milk, topped with whipped cream...but the ingredients don't describe the flavor in this beverage...so good.

Enough of the coffee (I might need to do a coffee comparison blog...hmmm...), let's talk about the food. My favorite...the open-face omelets!  All the ingredients served on top of a three egg omelet.  The open face of my choice is the "Hungry Tiger". A bed of home fries (we call them fried potatoes) topped with sautéed tomatoes & green onions, with bacon, ham, sausage, feta, cheddar, mozzarella & swiss cheese. YEA...it's like that.  And, I always order them with cheese grits on the side with a biscuit.  The biscuits are home made and amazing.

Of course, they have traditional style omelets as well. They're as amazing as the open face omelets, made with three eggs and home made ingredients. The one pictured here has cheese and bacon...according to my family member who ate it...is was good!
Tory had different omelet...the four cheese omelet made with cheddar, swiss, feta and mozzarrella cheese.  That thing was so thick in the center and cheesy!  Both this omelet and the one above were served with "home fries" which we traditional southerners call "fried potatoes".

The open faced omelet pictured here is the "San Diegan".  This omelet is constructed with a bed of sour cream & home fries, topped w/ sautéed portobellos, tomatoes green onions, w/ bacon, feta & cheddar cheese. This particular open face omelet is endorsed by someone named "Rachel Ray"...some sort of TV food star?  I'm kidding of course. The food at Brother Juniper's has won several local, regional and national awards ranging from "Best Breakfast" to "Best Breakfast in the Nation".

The restaurant is also known for their Cinnamon Roll Pancakes.  I didn't have any, but the person sitting at the next table did, and they looked amazing. I know this is the south, but I didn't feel comfortable asking "can I take a picture of your pancakes?"...it's not cool to do that.

Anyway, I love this place, and I think you will too! Go check it out!
